The Butterfly

""The Butterfly" project is a set of images - etudes of puppet art produced by both contemporary and traditional techniques: hand puppets, effigies, marionettes, transformers, board puppets, figures and emblems. The choice of which technique to use while making another images was inspired by the constantly told story and so the marionette which includes a cross in the animation had to tell the story of the crucifixion. Those images are authors' remaking of byblical meanings, symbols and emblems so they are processed as a recent language of figure theatre, puppet, mask and the object. This is a theatre which uses simple ways of animation: crank, gantry and outrigger. Thanks to that it is able for puppets to tell the story of a man. About his nature and exceeding it. "The Butterfly" is a spectacle of spiral relations between life and death told with a metaphor. The "Butterfly's" birth was followed with the question: what kind of human need, lack or insufficiency of word and motion has caused that puppet appeared in culture in so many variants and so many uses? Knowing those variants and creating their destination I tried to answer to that question. The spectacle contains of eight images created in cooperation with the music:
Dummy's Creation of the World or The History of the Well, Chant which is over all other Chants or The Miracle of Polyphony, The Gold Calf, Technique which leads to Metaphysics, Not so Eternal Dream, Faith's Irony or Here's the Man and the title Butterfly.
